Second, the Meta Quest 3 is equipped with a Snapdragon XR2 Chipset, making it one of the most premium and powerful standalone VR headset chips available. This enables you to run more demanding and powerful simulations and experiences without encountering performance issues. Additionally, the headset features 8GB of RAM, allowing you to either use the headset for multitasking and running various applications simultaneously or for running a single, highly demanding application.
Smaller form factor
Third, the Meta Quest 3 features a reduced form factor thanks to the use of Pancake Lenses, replacing the existing Fresnel Lenses found on the Quest 2. These Pancake lenses reduce the bulk of the headset by 40%, creating a lighter and smaller form factor. The battery for the Quest 3 is integrated into the front of the headset, which may result in a slightly more face-heavy experience compared to the Quest 2. However, due to reduced form factor, the headset feels less face-heavy compared to the Quest 2, resulting in a more comfortable experience, particularly for longer sessions or younger users.
Mixed Reality features
Fourth, the Meta Quest 3 is a mixed reality headset, thanks to its four 4MP high-fidelity, full-color passthrough cameras located on the front. Additionally, the headset features a depth sensor and hand tracking, enabling users to better interact with overlays over their existing reality.
